We, all of us, would want a life that is worthwhile, meaningful, happy, healthy, prosperous, interesting, exciting, evolving, and helpful to others around us. Wow, it seems, we want too much from our life given the reality most of us have. But, still, trying for it seems like a good idea.
Along the way, many wise men/women said the quality of the life is the quality of the moments in our life.
Since our life is seldom on a straight course, or the intended course, in practical terms of managing our life, it is not a bad idea to concentrate on the moment.
Anybody who has a project or a task at hand can tell you that accomplishment comes after many tedious, repetitious, boring, and backbreaking preparations. Probably, except a few people (even this is a maybe), most of us spend our life in a limbo. These are the facts and givens.
The question becomes how to find a quality moment in, mostly, not so glamorous moments.
The first thing is realizing and accepting that life is not a continuous, and fun-filled moments after moments. Life is mostly grinding it out. This realization could give us a perspective as to how to deal with a moment.
With that perspective in mind, patience and discipline offer a great help. It is because the quality of the moment has to come from within oneself. There is a quote attributed to Ronald Reagan's mother: "If you learn to love reading, you will never be alone." There is a poignant story behind this quote but that is for another time. What I like to add is that if you carry on a conversation with the Universe, you are ready to have a quality moment.
Someone, something, or some outside force can bring wonderful moments, but it is always I who has to appreciate it. It is always I who has to create the exciting and memorable moments. The interesting dialogue with the moment, that is beautiful.
